There are hundreds if not thousands of uses for scissors and from the simplest task, to the most tedious procedures, scissors play an important role in everyday use. In general, one could classify scissors in the following way: medical, household, hair dressing, craft, as well as nail or cuticle type scissors.
Just a few examples of medical type scissors are bandage scissors, EMT shears, dissecting scissors, stitch or suture scissors, iris scissors, and operating or hospital scissors. Household scissors vary from small to large and may include school scissors, paper scissors, and wall-board scissors. Hair-cutting scissors are comprised of mustache scissors, barber shears, beard clipping scissors, mustache scissors, and nose hair scissors. Craft scissors can also vary from small to large and include: tiny sewing scissors, embroidery and stork scissors, applique shears, tailor shears, button hole scissors, Chinese scissors, heavy-duty fabric shears, and decorative craft scissors. Nail and cuticle scissors for most part are small in size and the blades can be straight or curved in nature.
